Technorati not picking up my tags

Technorati is a great place to get free source of traffic. There is one problem with it, sometimes your post don’t get picked up.

It happened to me before. No matter how I tried, Technorati just hate my post! Why! I have a few blogs that seem to be banned by Technorati. I studied them against some of my other blogs and came out with a ‘do not’ list.

1. If you are putting your tags, do not put too many! I reduced from 20 to 10 and now I stick to 4 tags.

2. Do not make all your tags look like keyword stuffing.
Example: best African cat, new African cat, big African cat.

It seems like an abuse targeted at the keyword African cat.

3. Do not put unrelated tag. Make sure your tag is mentioned in the body of your post. If you tag elephant and your post is talking about cars, it will appear spammy to Technorati.

4. Do not use the same tag for every single post. If your blog is all about cucumbers, do not put the same tag cucumbers for every single post. Try to use different tags like blue cucumbers, biggest cucumbers, etc

If you are using wordpress, it is not a must to use Tag plugins. Your categories will be automatically picked by Technorati as tags when you ping them.
